elektro willi and his son are back. two years on board of a club cruise ship - thats enough. dad, we go ashore! sure, it was only a small step from selling washing-machines via the more or less obscure music industry to club ship animation. but sometimes even the most spectacular evening dinners, the most exciting special guests become boring. you just want to pull of your sweaty vinyl-showsauna-suit and get back to your origins: e.g. selling washing-machines. but without melancholy: on the aida, the willi-show became improved, in mediterranean nights, a new album was drafted into the starry sky.

south of croydon raised christian sibthorpe (aka a1 bassline) sent over a few things over the last 12 months that really had me paying attention. but it was jessica (j. phlip) ended up being the first one to drop falsehood at the spring dirtybird party in sf which pretty much sealed the deal. it just smashed the room to bits. later on i met christian in person when he helped me do a live radio show at rinse fm in london along with ben westbeech and we agreed there that dirtybird would put these two tracks out.a1 claims to have been heavily influenced by early metalheadz and you can really here it on these tunes. while buoyancy is a smooth pulsing affair that really shines in the deeper mixes, falsehood (which we are re-releasing from a1s tighten up label) really buries the hatched in your brain with bits and pieces of 808s, breaks and house hi-hats all forged together like hot iron.

these words are in the deepest part of douglass greed and the approach to his debut album. he allows his heart to lead, the better to look where it goes. therein hes distributing straight dope, however, in the sense of emotional impact – dance floor dictation it is not. greed crafts music that serves up euphoria for your mind on the terrace, mas- sage table, train or car trip and so on. a timeless effect stretches along the borders... an enduring touch, and to remain in the mind for seasons to come is his concern with this album. this is more weeping or laughing in the mirror rather than admiring the physical. douglas discusses not the luxurious but rather simplicity, in order to serve a sophisticated >author-future-pop< for the club under the bedspread. his fondness for other forms of musical self-realization shimmers on all of his releases up to now. on his own album, he expresses this passion to the fullest. the inclination for sensible beauty in the dark plays as the greed signature, a central role. featuring musician friends such as mooryc (poznan /polen), pascal bideau (a frenchman in london), kemo (a ger- man-hawaiian in new york), ian simmonds (uk) and delhia (jena), greed casts twelve expressive pulse beats of pure greed cosmos.

here comes, well, certainly not the record to turn your party upside down. the first lurker release brings two raw and sluggish instrumental rides through deep slowmotion territory. young talent babok shows us how to move that midnineties downbeat spirit into an adequate place for 2011, his mysterious djurh combines a strongly fragmented rhythm section and a distracted piano from somwhere below.
on small window, nic & jaq manage to hold the balance between early fall romantics and mid winter darkness,reaching the goosebump-o-meter s full scale with an intense samplesound and a thick drumset.

nice price deal !!! the 8th release on mindtrick records will be by the greek producer and sound engineer mobthrow. mobthrow just released his full length self titled debut album on adnoiseam and is now ready for his first 12inch release which will come out on the 5th of september. the 12inch brings a somewhat deeper feeling to the sound of mobthrow which is starting out with pitchblack on the a side. the 2nd track is flashback and is based in rewind mirror techniques (intro sample remains the same if you rewind it). heavy beats at 140 bpm. it is a story between dreams and reality, as the storyteller (mulholand drive sample) describes.
enter dubcore sets the tempo a little bit higher, balancing between dubstep/dnb. techy production approach (808.909 & tb303 used), born to spin in underground clubs at rush hour. also on the b side you will find a remix of pitch black which is made by german sound designer and composer hecq which kranks up the sound completely and make you slit your own wrists while listening to it!
overall this record is an excellent prove that dark sounding music can be very danceable!

manuel tur returns to delusions following his recent classic most of this moment on freerange and proceeds to throw another whacking great curveball for those who have think theyve got his game sussed. its quite safe to say the last year or so manuel has continued to push and redifne himself as a producer, refusing to stick to one sound or repeat himself which has resulted in some amazing releases aswell as some fruitful collaborations. recent remixes for permanent vacation, diynamic and dixons philomena label all display his deeper, left-of-centre and more techno-edged sound. here on delusions we have the (bi) polar opposite in the form of the foolin ep. the title track is a beautiful slice of soul-drenched house which goes for a classic sound with simple horn chords, rolling bass and incessant claps spicing up the groove. a simple vocal refrain is spun in like a dj drops an accapella and once heard this will be stuck in your head for days. a firm fireside favourite with all of us here at dog. theres also an instrumental version of foolin for those with vocalitis. flipping over we have the traveller which sees manuel head down slightly more familiar territory with a heavy, lo-slung groove providing the backdrop for some axelrod-style strings and horns, live bass and floating vocal adlibs. a subtley haunting soundtrack feel pervedes as the arrangement developes but the relentless driving beats make sure this track never strays far from the dancefloor.
